On August 29, 2025, the Early Childhood Development (ECD) team, in collaboration with the Nyanza District Health and Sanitation Departments, officially launched the Improved Pit Latrines Reconstruction Program at Akanyenyeri-Cyegera ECD. This initiative is designed to strengthen hygiene and sanitation standards across eight ECD centers currently lacking adequate facilities, with implementation carried out through community work in different villages. Today, 241 beneficiaries from Nyamiseke village gathered in Mubuga sector for a comprehensive training on modern agriculture. Organized in partnership with the Suyana Foundation under the Village of Hope project, the session focused on three key topics: crop rotation, land use, land preparation and seeds selection. The training aimed to equip farmers with practical knowledge to improve productivity and adopt sustainable farming practices. Participants expressed that the session had broadened their understanding and inspired them to make positive changes in their farming methods. Eleven-year-old Uwase Belinda, a fourth-grade student, has discovered an unexpected path to financial independence and a brighter future, all thanks to a single chicken. “This hen has given me so many eggs that I lost count!” she says with excitement. Instead of just enjoying the eggs, Belinda saw an opportunity. She began selling them and using the money to buy the school supplies she needed. “I sell the eggs to buy school materials, feed for my hen, and also to save money every week,” she explains.
